Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition 2021-2022

November 3 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Hosted in collaboration between the Graduate School, a committee of volunteers, and the Graduate Women in Science; this competition cultivates student’s academic, presentation, and research communication skills.

Students in research-based master’s and PhD programs from all disciplines are eligible to compete. Please direct them to grad.wisc.edu/professional-development/3-minute-thesis for details. October 14 is the deadline to register.

Leading up to the semi-final competitions, the Graduate School partners with the Writing Center to host a workshop on presentation skills and coordinates with the DesignLab to offer slide design resources and consultation opportunities. Registrants will receive additional details about opportunities to help them prepare a competitive presentation and slide.

Participants compete in divisional semi-final competitions, hosted by the committee, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on:
November 3, 2021 – Biological Sciences

The top 5 contestants from each division will advance to finals (December or February date TBD). The finalist will travel to and represent UW–Madison at the Midwest Association of Graduate Schools regional 3MT® competition in April 2022.
