Credentials: I study the diazepam binding inhibitor (DBI), an endogenous modulator of the GABAa receptor. I use a variety of electrophysiology and molecular biology techniques to understand how DBI helps to regulate inhibition in the brain. Studying DBI’s actions can teach us the mechanistic differences between positive and negative modulation and help us design more effect drugs to treat disorders in neuronal inhibition.
