Credentials: Metabolism and epigenetics are closely linked, as many histone modifying enzymes require metabolic cofactors for their catalytic activities. Histone methylation marks are particularly sensitive to metabolic perturbations because they rely on a single methyl-donor cofactor, SAM. I am interested in understanding how SAM-synthesizing enzymes (MAT2A and MAT2B) are regulated during metabolic stress, and how their regulation allows for adaptive mechanisms to promote epigenetic persistence and survival during methionine deplete conditions.
