Credentials: The Weaver lab studies chromosomal instability (CIN) and mitotic defects which occur during cell division. Mad1 protein is an important component of the Mitotic checkpoint complex (MCC), which is assembled when cells fail to attach to kinetochores. We recently showed that Mad1 also plays a role in alpha-5 integrin secretion aside from its canonical function at the kinetochores. My research focus is to tease out the cellular roles and the molecular mechanisms underlying the Golgi localization of Mad1.
