Credentials: My work aims to further understand the role of the Tropomyosin Receptor Kinase Fused Gene (TFG) in membrane trafficking and maintenance of proper function in neurons by studying mutations in the TFG gene that has been found to cause neurodegenerative diseases such as Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia (HSP) and Hereditary Motor and Sensory Neuropathy with Proximal Dominance (HMSN-P) through characterization of purified mutant TFG proteins, rat disease models carrying these muations, and patient fibroblasts.
