Mason McGuire

Credentials: I am researching the protein CARM1 and how it may act as a predicter of prognosis and therapeutic benefit of certain drugs in triple negative breast cancer (TNBC). My project will involve mechanistic studies into why PARP1/2 inhibition leads to decreased CARM1 level, whether CARM1 regulates DNA repair via homologous recombination but not base excision repair, and whether CARM1 affects PARP DNA trapping activity. I am also investigating how TNBCs display enhanced phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) activities via various mechanisms, and that PI3K and CARM1 seem to play intertwined roles.
